Dear Friends, We invite UGA staff and members of our broader network who have an interest in or engage in work related to gender and women’s studies to become a part of the IWS community by applying to become an Associate of the Institute for Women’s Studies. IWS is situated in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, and we house an interdisciplinary program that includes nearly every college in the university. Our core faculty currently consists of nine members, and our affiliate faculty includes over 100 members from at least 35 departments across the campus. We have approximately 150 undergraduate Women’s Studies majors and minors, and 40 graduate certificate students. We host a range of speakers, conferences, and other events over the course of each academic year. The category of IWS Associates existed years ago and we are reviving it in an effort to create more sustained relationships between the university and individuals who care about or are working in the areas of gender equity, women’s and LGBTQ+ rights, and other related topics. Associating with IWS offers access to our network of gender scholars and professionals, students who might work as interns, information about our events, and more. If you are interested in joining us, please submit an Associate application (CLICK HERE to download pdf application) along with an updated CV or resume. We welcome your involvement and invite you to share in the exciting and rewarding days ahead. Sincerely,Patricia RichardsDirector, Institute for Women's and Gender Studies**For questions, please contact Dr. Richards at plr333@uga.edu and Carla York at carlayork@uga.edu.
