Undergraduate Creative Collaborations

For Women's and Gender Studies students interested in collaborating with local stakeholders on artistic or creative work, the Creative Collaborations grant offers the opportunity to produce community-focused art, theatre, dance, music, poetry or other creative ventures with the support of a mentor.

What do you mean by "Creative Collaboration?"

Creative Collaboration Proposals must center collaboration with a local organization and have public presentation(s) of final products that amplify the multivocal character of our community and/or draw attention to pressing concerns. Community partners must be confirmed for accepted proposals to receive funding. IWS will consider proposals that do not yet have clear confirmation from the community partner IF the applicant already has an existing relationship with the potential partner (such as work or volunteer experience) but needs more time to confirm their participation. Projects might take the form of a public mural, a concert, a play or poetry reading, a movement workshop, or an art installation (among other ideas!). Community organizations might include parks and recreation facilities, the public library, community arts organizations and theatres, or local advocacy groups such as The Cottage Sexual Assault Center, the Athens Immigrant Rights Coalition, or Athens Pride and Queer Collective.

How much money can I apply for?

Selected proposals will receive an award of $1000 per semester for up to two semesters, which can be used towards research expenses and/or to cover cost of living.

What can I use the grant money for?

Grant money may be used towards research expenses (travel, software, books and journals, supplies, stipends, etc.) and/or to cover cost of living (food, childcare, housing, etc.).
