For Women's and Gender Studies Students who are interested in spearheading their own research, the Engaged Scholarly Research grant is a great opportunity to get some funding and make sure that you have the support of a mentor. What is "Engaged Scholarly Research?" Engaged Scholarly Research is research that grapples with issues and realities beyond the university campus. Projects might include collecting queer and diverse local histories, conducting an intersectional needs assessment of the unhoused, evaluating gaps in multivocal resources in education, or exploring the intersectional implications of sustainability practices. We encourage students to engage with community partners and to have public-facing research results. How much money can I apply for? Selected proposals will receive an award of $1000 per semester for up to two semesters, which can be used towards research expenses and/or to cover cost of living. What can I use the grant money for? Grant money may be used towards research expenses (travel, software, books and journals, supplies, stipends, etc.) and/or to cover cost of living (food, childcare, housing, etc.). How do I find a mentor for my project? Use our handy “Finding a Mentor” guide to research, contact, and meet with potential faculty and graduate student mentors in IWS. How do I apply?
